Walk me through the three financial statements
The warm-up that decides how closely they listen to everything after it.
Walk me through the three financial statements and how they connect.
Reveal the model answer
Model answer
Keep it tight and show the linkages, not the definitions.
Income statement: revenue down to net income over a period. Balance sheet: assets, liabilities, and equity at a point in time. Cash flow statement: bridges net income back to actual cash movement across operating, investing, and financing activities.
The connections are what they are testing:
·Net income flows into retained earnings on the balance sheet and starts the cash flow statement
·Non-cash charges (D&A, stock comp) are added back in operating cash flow and reduce asset values on the balance sheet
·Ending cash on the cash flow statement is the cash line on the balance sheet
Where candidates lose the room: reciting line items instead of linkages, and forgetting that the balance sheet must balance through retained earnings and cash. If you finish in under a minute with the three links above, you have passed.

How it works
01
Start from your seat
Banking, consulting, or elsewhere. The bank is organized so you drill what your background does not already cover.
02
Drill, reveal, mark
Work a question cold, then check yourself: type the number, pick the option, or walk the answer one step at a time. Mark it confident or needs work and your progress follows you.
03
Walk in with the reps done
By the time the process starts, nothing across the table is a surprise.

FAQ
Who is this for?
People recruiting for private equity and adjacent buy-side seats from investment banking, consulting, or a less traditional path. The material assumes you are smart and busy, not that you already know the answers.
Who writes the content?
Bijan, a private equity associate in Boston who went through this exact process and now sits on the other side of the table. Everything is written from real interviews, not recycled forum threads.
How is this different from the free guides?
The free guides tell you what an LBO is. This tells you what interviewers push on when you answer, where candidates lose the room, and what a strong answer sounds like, with model answers you can hold yours against.
Can I share my account?
No. Accounts are limited to two active devices, and portal content is watermarked with the account email. Get your own login; it is cheaper than it sounds.
